Stones Move, Trees Speak

Site specific installation. Edvard Munch Haus, Warnemünde. Part of the exhibition series “Fallen Tree”. 2025.

Stones Move, Trees Speak

The installation Stones Move, Trees Speak is structured as a three-dimensional herbarium— a spatial archive and cabinet of curiosities—in which gathered and dried botanical samples from roughly 50 trees from Warnemünde is presented alongside objects, images, text, and video connecting the trees to broader narratives of control, stewardship, resistance, and change.

The point of departure for the project was an exploration of the local history and landscape through the stories of the trees. Specifically the relationship between the trees and the sand on a historical, political, economic, and ecological level. By placing the trees at the center of the narrative and treating them as its main protagonists, the project seeks to understand how the local landscape has been shaped.
